Description
Calcified pericarditis. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scan of an axial section through the torso of a patient with calcified pericarditis. Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium (dark orange, top centre) - the sac that surrounds the heart (upper centre). Here, it has also become hardened due to a buildup of calcium salts in the pericardial tissue.
