Description
Bull advertising sign and wind turbine. This Spanish bull sign (known as an Osborne bull) was an advert for Osborne sherry. The roadside signs became iconic in Spain, and many were blacked out and retained (rather than demolished) when roadside advertising of alcoholic beverages was banned in 1994. Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the winds formed by the heating of the Earth by the Sun. They are an environmentally-friendly source of energy, as they release no toxic waste products and do not rely on a limited resource for fuel. This turbine is part of one of the La Muela wind farms in the province of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. This wind farm consists of 66 NEG Micon NM750-48 wind turbines, each generating 750 kW of power. The rotor hubs are mounted at a height of 55 metres. This wind farm opened in 2003. Photographed in 2008.
