Bromoethane. Computer illustration of a molecule of bromoethane (formula: C2H5Br). Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (yellow), hydrogen (white) and bromine (red). Bromoethane is a colourless liquid with a sweet odour. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry, and also in the manufacture of pestic- ides. It is thought it may cause cancer in humans.
