British aircrew being briefed. The crew of a Royal Flying Corps R.E.8 reconnaissance aircraft being briefed prior to a mission over the Western Front. The single-engined R.E.8 was introduced in 1916 and was used mainly for artillery spotting and reconnaissance duties. Over 4000 were built. Photographed during World War One.
