Brain tissue, light micrograph. Folded segment of grey matter of the cortex of the cerebellum. The orange tissue is the molecular layer showing the extraordinary branching of nerve cell processes of the Purkinje neurons whose cell bodies are seen at intervals along the margin of the layer. Beyond this are the enormous numbers of neuron cell bodies (black) in the granular layer. Paraffin section, silver stain. Magnification: x60 when width printed at 10cm.
