Description
The white flower petals of the Handkerchief Tree (Davidia involucrata) are called bracts. They are modified leaves that often form a flower like structure. Inside the two white bracts, the flower stamen is a purplish sphere with an pistil at its center. This Chinese tree has become a popular ornamental tree in Europe and the USA.
