Description
Faraday's workplace. Engraving of Mr Riebau's bookshop at 2 Blandford, London, England, where Michael Faraday worked as an apprentice bookbinder and delivery boy. He was born into poverty and poorly educated. He is best known for studies on electrolysis and electromagnetic phenomena. His electromagnetic research formed the background for the unified electromagnetic theory elaborated by James Maxwell. In 1832 Faraday formulated the Laws of Electrolysis which dictate the behaviour of a chemical solution in electric currents. He devised the first electric motor and equipment such as transformers and dynamos.
