Description
Biometric eye scanning. Woman having her eyes screened by a biometric scanner, which is being used to identify her from her eye patterns. The iris, the coloured part of the eye, and the retina, which is inside the eye but is seen though the pupil (black), have unique features in every individual. If the biometric data of a person's eye is held on record they can be identified by an eye scan. Other parts of the body used for biometric scanning include fingerprints and the contours of the face. Photographed at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, UK.
