Description
Beefsteak Fungus (Fistulina hepatica). This bracket fungus belonging to the homobasidiomycetes grows on the bark of living oak and sweet chestnut trees. It causes a rot in the wood that produces a dark brown wood, which is known as brown oak and prized by furniture manufactures.
