Effect of adding more cells to a battery in a circuit. From left to right, progressively more cells ( batteries') are added in series to the battery in the circuit. A multimeter shows how the current increases. At far right, a light bulb is added to the circuit. This has considerably lower resistance than the connection lead, so allows a higher current to pass.
