Description
Atmospheric absorption of electromagnetic radiation, artwork. Radio waves, microwaves, infrared light and visible light are all able to penetrate Earth's atmosphere and reach the ground from space. The majority of ultraviolet (UV) light, and all X-rays and gamma rays are absorbed in the upper atmosphere. Therefore to collect data from these wavelengths space-based detectors need to be used.
