Description
Atlantic hurricanes in September 2019, satellite image. Hurricanes and tropical storms are cyclonic storm systems that form over tropical waters, visible here as spiral cloud shapes. The most powerful storm here is Hurricane Dorian (upper centre) that made a devastating landfall in the Bahamas on 1 September 2019. At far upper left (in the Pacific) is Hurricane Juliette. Between the two (on the coast of north-western Mexico) is Tropical Storm Fernand. At far upper right is Tropical Storm Gabrielle. Image obtained on 4 September 2019, by the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) on NOAA's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 16 (GOES-16).
