Description
Ariane 5 fairing assembly. Ariane 5 fairing (uppermost part of the rocket) being lowered onto the upper stage which houses the payload. The fairing serves to protect the payload during launch. Once the launcher leaves Earth's atmosphere, the fairing is discarded. Photographed at the Guiana Space Centre, Kourou, French Guiana.
