Description
Arctic poppy and moss campion plants. The Arctic poppy (Papaver radicatum, yellow) is a perennial plant found in the Arctic and alpine regions of North America, Europe and Asia. Its flowers are usually white or yellow, but may rarely be pink or even brick red. Moss campion (Silene acaulis) grows in large, flat cushions on stony grasslands and rocky areas. It is considered to be a pioneer species, as it can survive on ground with very little soil. Photographed on Clavering Island in North East Greenland National Park, Greenland.
