Description
Arctic fox (Alopex lagopus) with its summer coat, feeding on the carcass of a seabird. The Arctic fox lives on the ice and tundra around the North Pole. It usually feeds on small animals such as rodents and birds, but when food is scarce its diet can include carrion, reindeer dung and plants. In winter, its coat turns white. Photographed in July at a nesting colony of Brunnich's guillemots (Uria lomvia) in Norway's Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic.
