Apollo 16 moowalk. US astronaur John W. Young (born 1930), commander of the Apollo 16 lunar landing mission, during the first Apollo 16 extravehicular activity (EVA) on the moon. Apollo 16 was launched on 16 April 1972. Components of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) are in the background. ALSEP was used on the Apollo 11-17 missions. Photographed on 21 April 1972.
