Apollo 11 flight plan touchdown page, 20 July 1969. NASA prepared extensive flight plans for their crewed Apollo missions to the Moon. The Apollo 11 flight plan was 363 pages, providing a minute-by-minute timeline of the mission activities. This page covers the separation of the Lunar Module LM-5 Eagle (LM) from the Command/Service Module CSM-107 Columbia (CSM), and its descent to touchdown on day 5 of the mission. The LM touched down at 20:17 UTC on 20 July 1969. Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin were in this module, becoming the first men to walk on the surface of the Moon. Michael Collins stayed in lunar orbit in the command module. This flight plan page includes diagrams of the spacecraft positions, and additional handwritten notes. The abbreviations refer to the astronaut roles: Collins was Command Module Pilot (CMP), Armstrong was Commander (CDR), and Aldrin was Lunar Module Pilot (LMP).
