Amphibian tooth adaptation. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a tooth from a young Boulengerula taitana amphibian. The teeth of the young of this caecilian amphibian are specialized for eating their mother's skin. The skin is thickened especially for the young to feed on it, and the mother is not harmed.
