Light micrograph human tissue section showing acute haemorrhagic pancreatic necrosis. This uncommon disease involves inflammation and necrosis of pancreas parenchyma, focal enzymic necrosis of pancreatic fat and vessel necrosis (haemorrhagic). Haemorrhagic pancreatitis is characterised by bleeding within or around the pancreas and is usually considered a late sequela of acute pancreatitis.
