Artist's Description
Anaesthesia. Intravenous (IV) line in the wrist of a patient for the administration of anaesthetic liquid during an operation. A cannula (pink), a hollow blunt tube, has been inserted into the wrist and taped into place. A tube, which will carry the drug, has been put in the cannula. Anaesthetics induce unconsciousness and so prevent the patient feeling any pain or discomfort during an operation.
