Description
Endochondral ossification, light micrograph. Mixed bone trabeculae are a typical feature of endochondral officiation. They are the consequence of apposition of primary bone tissue with osteocytes around a bluish centre of acellular calcified cartilage (the chondrocytes died when the cartilage calcified). A row of osteoblasts can be seen around the trabeculae.
