Artist's Description
Film about human ancestors. Image 2 of 2. Computer generated image (CGI) showing an early hominid and her baby. The mother is eating food, and the baby is breast-feeding. This image was created for the French film-documentary A Species Odyssey (2003). This film, directed by Jacques Malaterre, used models and CGI to trace the story of human evolution over millions of years. The species featured in the film included Orrorin tugenensis, Australopithecus afarensis and Australopithecus anamensis. The hominid is the CGI part of the shot and has been composited against a background of African savannah grasses. For an earlier stage in the creation of this CGI shot, see image E437/080. For both images, see E437/082.
