Earth centred on the Greenwich Meridian, satellite image. Land cover varies from vegetation (green) to arid land (brown). Sea colour varies from dark blue to light blue (coastal algal blooms). Clouds are white. The thin atmospheric haze circling the globe is computer-simulated. This view covers Western Europe (upper centre), the rest of western Eurasia (upper right), most of Africa (lower right), part of the Indian Ocean (bottom right), the Atlantic Ocean (down left) and parts of the Arctic (top) and the Americas (far left). This mosaic image combines surface and cloud data from the MODIS sensor on NASA's Terra satellite.
