Sugar crystals. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of sucrose crystals. Sucrose is extracted from the sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) or cane sugar (Saccharum officinarum) plants. Magnification: x65 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
