Description
Mosaic restoration. Restoration of mosaics is mostly limited to cleaning and reinforcing the remaining parts, so that the image is visible. Here, a restorer is removing from the mosaic's underside the original support of mortar. Restored mosaics, once removed from their original support, are fixed to a material known as NIDA. This work is being carried out as part of the Interdepartmental Workshop restoration of mosaics and wall paintings of Saint-Romain-en-Gal, France.
