Zeolite crystals, polarised light micrograph. Zeolites are hydrated aluminosilicates that have a micro-porous structure. They are used as catalysts in the chemical industry. This sample is from the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland. Magnification: x14 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
