Artist's Description
Tooth brushing technique. Artwork showing a toothbrush being used to clean the chewing surfaces of the molars and pre-molars in the mouth's upper right quadrant. This is one of five stages needed to achieve thorough cleaning of the teeth. These five stages (see C013/0495 to C013/0499) are then repeated in the other three quadrants of the mouth. Cleaning of the teeth and gums, using toothpaste and a toothbrush, is done to remove food debris and bacterial plaque. If it is not done, or is not done properly, dental caries (tooth decay) can develop.
