Description
Skylab space station. View of the Skylab space station as seen from the Skylab 3 Command Module (CM) during station-keeping maneuvers before docking. The primary docking port at the forward end of the Multiple Docking Adaptor (centre) is below the Apollo Telescope Mount (upper left). One solar array (lower left) on the Orbital Workshop is seen after being successfully deployed during a spacewalk. Skylab 3 was launched on 28 July 1973 with three astronauts onboard: Alan L. Bean, Jack R. Lousma and Owen K. Garriott, who remained in the Skylab space station in Earth- orbit for 59 days. The Ilha Grande de Gurupa area of the Amazon River valley of Brazil is seen.
