Description
Nuclear decontamination worker using sandblasting equipment. The worker is wearing a sealed radiation protection suit and breathing apparatus while he decontaminates a radioactive nuclear site. Sandblasting is used to remove the radioactive particles embedded into the metal that covers the concrete-lined walls. The worker's radiation protection suit is being cooled by a flow of air, inside the inflated exterior covering, to prevent the worker overheating. Photographed at the French nuclear research centre at Fontenay-aux-Roses, France.
