Artist's Description
John Stewart Bell (1928-1990), British physicist. Bell is most famous for originating Bell's theorem in the mid-1960s. Bell's work extended the EPR paradox to derive what is known as Bell's inequality. This implies that certain types of physical theories are unable to account for all the predictions of quantum mechanics, raising philosophical questions about the limits of what is possible with such theories. Photographed in 1987.
