Artist's Description

Light micrograph of the highly folded surface folia of the cerebellar cortex. The core of each folium is white matter. It is covered with gray matter the inner component is the granular layer containing many neuron cell bodies (brown) with the surface molecular layer stained yellow. The many fissures and lobes of the cerebellum accommodates many more neurons compared with a simple non-convoluted morphology. Paraffin section, silver stain. Magnification: x 30 when width printed at 10cm.
