Artist's Description

Brain. Abstract computer artwork of a human brain. The front of the brain is at right. The brain is the nerve centre that controls bodily function and thought. It interprets nerve signals received from the rest of the body and initiates the appropriate responses. The convoluted surface of the cerebral cortex, responsible for intelligent thought, language, conscious movement and memory, is seen here. The cerebellum (lower left, ) controls muscular co-ordination, balance and posture. The brainstem (lower centre, right of the cerebellum) controls the body's vital subconscious functions, including breathing and blood pressure.
