Apollo Soyuz Test Project crew training. Portrait of (from left to right) US astronauts Thomas Stafford (born 1930), Vance Brand (born 1931) and Donald Slayton (1924-1993) with Soviet cosmonauts Valeri Kubasov (1935-2014) and Alexey Leonov (born 1934) on a model of the Apollo CSM-111 (left) and Soyuz 19 (right) spacecraft during training for the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP). The ASTP mission was the first joint international manned space-flight. It took place from 15-24th July 1975. A Russian Soyuz 19 and American Apollo CSM-111 spacecraft docked in orbit on 17th July to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism.
