Artist's Description

Algal biorector research. Researcher with a bioreactor using Chlamydomonas reinhardttii algae (green) to produce hydrogen gas for use as a fuel. The light source fuels the growth of the algae. Burning hydrogen produces water vapour, and is a cleaner source of energy than burning fossil fuels like coal, gas and oil. Photographed in 2003, at the University of Nantes, France.
