Description
Model released: A 3-year old cystic fibrosis patient using a magic bottle. When the patient blows into this with sufficient force, the multicoloured string is made to jump about. Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease affecting the exocrine glands. One result of this is the formation of a thick mucus in the bronchi. Percussive treatment is used to loosen the mucus, which is then coughed up. The treatment seen here is used to encourage chest expansion. Severe respiratory infections are a common complication of the disease, these are treated with antibiotics.
