Artist's Description

Wright Flyer. Flown by Orville Wright, this aircraft performed the world's first powered flight on 17th December 1903. The aircraft was designed and built by Orville and his brother, Wilbur Wright. Following extensive wind tunnel experiments and trials, the maiden flight lasted 12 seconds, travelled 36. 6 metres at an altitude of 3 metres with an airspeed of 10. 9 kilometres/hour. Photographed at Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA.
