Artist's Description

Uranus. Artwork of the gas giant planet Uranus. Its rings appear vertical as the planet is tipped on its side, possibly from a massive impact event in the early history of the solar system. Uranus is the seventh planet out from the Sun, orbiting at a distance of around 2800 million kilometres. It takes 84 Earth years to complete one orbit. It has a diameter four times that of the Earth and mainly comprises hydrogen and helium gas. Its rings are very thin, being only a few kilometres wide and around 100 metres thick.
