Artist's Description

Titchener illusion, computer artwork. The two red circles are actually the same size. However, the brain perceives that one is smaller or larger according to the sizes of the surrounding black circles. This illusion is named after the experimental psychologist Edward Bradford Titchener (1867-1927).
