Artist's Description
Medieval manuscript. A laboratory researcher tests for the presence of fungal growth on the pages of a medieval manuscript. The researcher is using a cotton pad to pick up any dust from the book that may contain fungal spores. The dust is then suspended in glassware containing sterile solutions (at top centre). Any fungal spores in the water may then be detected and the manuscript treated with an appropriate fungicide to prevent deterioration.
