Artist's Description
Oil drilling ship. This is the Petrobras 10000 oil drilling rig and ship. It is a double-hull ultra-deepwater unit, built by Samsung in 2009. It is capable of drilling to depths of over 11 kilometres and operating in water depths of over 3.5 kilometres. The rig achieves increased efficiency by using Transocean's dual-activity drilling technology. Transocean operates the ship for a subsidiary of Petrobras, and drilling off the Angolan coast commenced in 2009. Photographed in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
