Los Angeles Aqueduct. Close-up of one of the pressurised steel pipes of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, California, USA. Built in 1913, this aqueduct carries water in two pressurized steel pipes from Owens Lake, through Jawbone Canyon, to Los Angeles, California, USA, supplying the city with 70 per cent of its water. Los Angeles bought the rights to Owens Valley water in the early 1900s, drying up Owens Lake and ending most farming in the valley.
