Artist's Description

Iridescent paint. Close-up of the surface of an object coated in iridescent (metallic) paint. This paint contains small flakes that are coated with ultra-thin layered structures. Light hitting the surface of these structures produces a colour shift that changes depending on the angle of the viewer. This effect is known as iridescence and occurs in natural materials such as butterfly wings, on the surface of soap bubbles and some sea shells.
