Artist's Description

Indian items from the early 20th century. The items include flowers of the neem tree (Azidirachta indica), used as a moth repellent, and an anklet and a nose ring. Watercolour by the British artist Olivia Fanny Tonge (1858-1949). This artwork is from a collection of watercolours drawn by Tonge in the period 1908 to 1913, during two visits to India. The collection was presented to the Natural History Museum, London, UK, in 1952.
