Heavy Ion Collision Event In Cern's Cms Detector #1 metal print by Cern, Thomas Mccauley/science Photo Library.   Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

Artist's Description

Heavy ion collision event in CERN's CMS detector. Computer-generated graphic of the results of a collision between heavy ions, as observed by the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory. Here, a top quark is produced in association with a Z boson. The tZq state is characterized by three leptons (in this case two electrons and a muon), a jet produced from decay of a bottom quark, and a forward jet. The two electrons, represented by the two green lines and associated green towers come from decay of the Z boson. The muon, represented by the red line, and the b-jet, represented by the orange cone pointing left, come from decay of the top quark. The forward jet is represented by the other orange cone. This experiment took place on 15 August 2016.
