Description
Gulf temperature. Satellite image of the east coast of North America (green, upper left), showing the sea surface temperature (SST) of the Gulf of Mexico in autumn. The temperature decreases as the Gulf Stream current moves upwards from Mexico (lower left) to Canada (top right) in a current known as the Gulf Stream, cooling from about 32 degrees celsius (red) to about 15 degrees celsius (dark blue). Image produced using data obtained by the AMSR-E (Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS) instrument on NASA's Aqua satellite on 1st September 2007.
