Description
Gulf of Mexico oil spill containment, 2010. Welders building a portion of the Subsea Oil Recovery System chamber. The structure will be placed over one of the leak sources caused by the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, 20th April. It is the first time the system has been used at such a depth. The chamber will collect the leaking oil, which will then be pumped to a tanker on the surface. Photographed at Wild Well Control Inc., Port Fourchon, Louisiana, USA, on 26th April 2010.
