Wright Brothers National Memorial. Stone marking the end of the historic first flight of a heavier-than-air powered aircraft by the Wright Brothers, at Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills, Outer Banks, North Carolina, USA. Subsequent flights are marked by stones in the background. The Wright Brothers designed and flew the first successful heavier-than-air powered aircraft near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903. The Wright Brothers National Memorial commemorates their achievement.
