Description
F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. This is one of the world's most advanced fighter aircraft, able to fly at supersonic speeds with great agility, carrying a range of advanced weaponry. This aircraft entered service with the US Air Force in 2005, having been in development since the 1980s. The covers (red, lower left and lower right) protect the intakes for the F-22's afterburning turbofan engines when it is not in use. The aircraft is around 19 metres long, with a wingspan of 13.5 metres. It is flown by a single pilot. Photographed in 2009.
