Description
Exporting microRNAs from nucleus. Conceptual illustration of pre-miRNAs (pre-micro ribonucleic acids, blue) being exported from the cell nucleus to the cytoplasm by the exportin-5 protein. In the cytoplasm the double-stranded RNA is processed by Dicer enzymes (purple) to produce short single-stranded RNA molecules that act to inhibit the expression of specific genes by regulating the expression of messenger RNA (mRNA).
