Description
Electrical activity is caused by extracellular streams of ions around the pyramidal cells in the brains cortex. This can be seen during electroencephalography (EEG) and is used to diagnosis conditions such as epilepsy. An EEG tracks and records brain wave patterns. Pyramidal neurons (pyramidal cells) are a type of multipolar neuron found in areas of the brain including the cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, and the amygdala.
